There is no question that the beginning of an essay is important. But the conclusion is equally as important. This good conclusion paragraph can be your last impression on your reader, so it needs to be just right — and there are a few things you need to remember when writing this section of your essay. You’ll want to tie up any loose ends, summarize your main points, make sure there are no unanswered questions, and more. See this article for tips on how you can write a powerful conclusion for your paper.

The conclusion of an essay is the last impression you’ll make on your reader. It should summarize your argument, show how your topic relates to the readers’ lives and should provide a call to action. The conclusion of an essay should be short, sweet, and to the point. Here are some questions you can ask yourself when writing your final paragraph:
Here’s an example conclusion of an essay from an honors thesis:
“On the 20th of each month, throughout the year, I’m going to be standing in my home, my only home. This is my home. I am going to appreciate its beauty, its quietude, and its kindness. In addition, I am going to appreciate the color of the mud, the colors of the trees, the colors of the sky. I will ask the question, is this my home?”
This is what readers are looking for. The professor finishes his essay with a bang, tells you how you can get your gear again — because they were lost at sea — and ends with the best possible call-to-action. Don’t skip this step.
See how the rule follows the words? “I must get back on the boats!” followed by “each month is.
The conclusion of an essay should tie up all your main points so that readers can walk away with a clear understanding of what you’ve said. There are three main factors to keep in mind when writing an effective conclusion of an essay:
Take the analogy that you used earlier in the essay — what does life look like if you only saw the best and hateful sides of others? You now need to provide a reasonable explanation of how what you observed is only the best or the worst sides of your certain people. And you can’t just say that because it’s easier — you now need to relate the comparison to reality.
Along the same lines, you may wonder how you’re going to solve for bias. To do this, you have to explain why one extreme will always be perceived as the truth. Can you relate this idea to the world we live in today — do we know everything about everyone? Can you explain how even a first-world country like the United States with universal health care can’t achieve the very best for its citizens simply by selectively choosing to see only the good aspects of certain behaviors?
While you do this, you’ll also need to explore topic areas that are a little less complicated, but still, have the potential to get complicated soon after you finish your essay. Here are three examples of things you could talk about:
Your topic can be as broad or as detailed as you like. It’s helpful, though, if you limit it so that it has one overarching idea to work with. Try to wrap your head around one big idea or idea cluster. You might even end up calling this your thesis.
As a general rule, it’s best to write your closing conclusion paragraph first and then shift your focus to your thesis. However, this brings up another important point — your thesis needs to be tied up in a way that can’t easily be skipped.
A summary of the main points in your paper, especially those points that are most important to understand the paper and its conclusions.
Paragraph: “A summary of the main points in your paper, especially those points that are most important to understanding the paper and conclusion of an essay.”
Highlighted sentences: Write just three or four sentences that pertain to each point your paper makes.
Ending the paragraph with a call to action (CTA) reinforces the inner promise that your paper makes. When writing your opening paragraph, do not ask the reader to “read more.” For many students, knowing the information in your paper is enough to be confident writing on it.
Using a sentence break makes your paper easier to read and, therefore, easier to write.
Paragraph: “In introducing this paper, we briefly describe the site and its purpose, describe your experience writing it, and briefly summarize its major findings.”
Highlighted sentences: Increase your paper’s readability you can use a few techniques by making these sentences the first sentences in your paragraph. Make sure you use the right words for each point and don’t repeat yourself. Note, however, that you do not need to repeat each point more than once.
Ending the paragraph with a stronger promise than you started with, such as telling the reader “here’s what’s in the paper,” is a helpful strategy you will use a lot in writing a conclusion and influential paper.
Paragraph: “In conclusion, I want to say that writing a conclusion illustrates how the new technologies of the 21st century disrupt many traditional business models, which is exactly what we need. You showed that creative use of technology can effectively navigate and improve an old system.”
Highlighted sentences: Make sure you emphasize that your paper is educational and that you used social and economic context relevant to the sharecropper experience. Also, make sure you show how the paper presents specially developed technologies to the cotton input model in general, and land and natural resource models in particular.
When you’re thinking of ending a blog post, you need to tie up any loose ends or unanswered questions that might be stopping people from buying from you. This is a great way to convince people to convert and buy from you because it shows you’re confident and you believe in your product or service.
You’ve done all you can do with the introductory sentences, so now it’s time for some solid information. Explain how you are unique or unique in the space you’re in. Be as thorough as possible — I’ve always found it helps if there’s a story behind each point and how it applies to the readers.
When I prepare my Business Writing Tips essay, I give them a story-based subheading for each point so they can tell what point is what, and that lets point one say everything it needs to say about itself.
Just make sure the information you include with your title is as compelling, thought-provoking, and educational as possible.
The goal of your argument is to convince someone else that your point of view is right, not that you’re right. There are several ways to make sure this happens.
Although this last point isn’t critical, if you struggle to answer when someone raises an argument, this can be an easy place for an essay to go awry. Luckily, there are a few techniques you can use to ensure that your conclusion paragraph is thoughtfully written and addresses every question the reader might have. These techniques aren’t new and several have been used for hundreds of years, but writing a conclusion well for them is a recent skill that many extempore writers have started developing. Read on to find out more.
To write a good argument, take a look at previous essays you’ve written and consider how you might respond to them. For example, in this blog post, one of your points is that the difficulty of philosophy stems from an inability to have a positive attitude about our place in the universe. Another example is that feminism is bad for business. In both of these essays, you could have written a different argument; for example, you could argue the importance of entrepreneurship.
In your good conclusion paragraph, think about how that argument (or any other argument) supports the case you made throughout the rest of your paper. For example, if you had argued that happiness for women is inherent in their roles, this may seem more moderate as opposed to a societal expectation. You can then support this argument by citing relevant studies, statistics, etc. to back up your claim.
Likewise, if you believe that Hispanic English is vastly inferior to English spoken in the United States, this might seem like a weak argument — but you could use studies to support it.
