How Audiences are Best Motivated
There are many different ways that audiences are best motivated. First, a speaker needs to figure out what they want the audience to do and why they are the right people to reveal why they should do it and what it will feel like when they do it. Motivational speaking must appeal to the unconscious to be effective (Devi, 2018). However, it must also be relevant to the audience and sound credible and believable. There is a brand of motivation that psyches up people and leaves them up there but without any clue about how to put the objects of motivation into action. Nonetheless, speakers should be clear about what they motivate people to do and provide tips on how to do it. For example, one can motivate people to take more actions on specific goals, to eat healthily, to start doing something, to stop doing something, or to start a business. Besides, speakers must challenge make sure they achieve what they motivate them to do. If possible, they should agree with the audience for a follow-up, maybe after a few days or weeks, to check if they have done anything around what the motivational speaking was all about. People get very motivated during the speech, but it is very often that the motivation soon disappears without the targets doing anything. Speakers should also use stories that move the audience emotionally and create a roller coaster of highs and lows that reveal the pain-problem path to lead the audience to see why they need to change their situation (Devi, 2018). They need to paint a clear vision of what it will be like when they do it to motivate and inspire them.
