Climate Change- What Can We Do?
Climate change or not is just a phenomenon, it is an effect that may be caused by a natural process or manmade process or a combination of the two. The day-to-day activities by human beings have reached the depth and scale that can affect environment tremendously. The cause of the environmental problems is human unlimited exploitation of the natural resources and destruction of the environment. If effective approaches are not taken, global temperatures will continue to rise, heat the ocean, raise sea levels, the frequency, and severity of extreme weather events, encourage desertification, and wild fires, and destroy crops and food chains.
In a Learn to Discern Webinar, several experts discuss how climate change can be confronted and people’s responsibilities to ensure the problem are reduced. According to one of the speakers one person cannot make a difference but if people participate there is likely to e an impact on the change (Learn to Discern, 2021). First, there is a need to get informed. This can be achieved by getting critical information from different scientific reports providing information about the climate. Another important aspect discussed is what cities are doing for inspiration to make a positive impact on the environment. Examples of companies like Toyota which have been motivated to come up with environmentally friendly initiatives are also discussed.
The presentation is an effective example of a detailed and comprehensive discussion that provides a critical understanding of what can be done to reduce climate change. I have learned many important aspects from the presentation. One of them is that there is a need to encourage collaboration between governments to achieve a climate action (Learn to Discern, 2021). Several cities are also taking significant steps towards achieving better practices towards the environment. One of them is Downtown Fort Worth which has been taking the initiative of turning its lights out as a way of saving migrating rids. I have also learned that y changing consumer investments and norms better environmental practices can be achieved.
What I most agree with from the presentation is that people need to change the way they live and work to reduce the negative impacts of climate change (Learn to Discern, 2021). Some of our activities such as emission of greenhouse gases from vehicles, and burning fuel to power factories cause global warming. As a result, we need to avoid activities that lead to any form of pollution and embrace better strategies to ensure we live in a healthy environment. People also need to use their voices to ensure effective approaches are taken toward the climate. As it is explained we need to ask how our favorite rands are produced and sourced besides using social media for change (Learn to Discern, 2021). It is also critical to ensure that our federal, state and city representatives understand how committed we are to sustainable environmental policies. Nonetheless, we should vote wisely for leaders who can bring positive change to the environment. One critical item I would like to address is how climate change is already impacting the world. By understanding this, effective strategies can be formulated to deal with the impacts and avoid them in the future.
In conclusion, climate change is a major problem affecting the world. As a result, several cities are taking significant impacts to ensure there is less damage to the environment. The Learn to Discern Webinar provides a critical understanding of how people can make a positive difference toward the environment to reduce the negative impacts of climate change. The webinar provides different ideas and opinions about climate change initiatives from experts in different fields. With the strategies provided on how to achieve better environmental practices, change can be achieved.
