Admission to Physician Assistant School

I was born in Tehran, Iran, and graduated from high school in 1996. Since then, I have dedicated my life to help people in need. If they require help, I am available for them regardless of the circumstances. As a result, I decided to focus my career on the field of medicine, and your admission would provide me the opportunity to learn and help people.

After my high school graduation, there was an opening to apply for universities for any major. Provided with the opportunity, I studied hard and passed my entrance exam, and got accepted for a course in Bachelor of English Translation. After four years in the university and graduated in 2000. Having learned the English language, I moved to the USA in 2002 and immersed myself in a foreign culture. I spent my first years in the USA as a receptionist in a medical office. Working in the medical office, I interacted with patients and had a chance to check their blood pressure, temperature, weight, and height.

With that experience, I decided to advance my education in the medical field in 2007 by enrolling at Concord Career College. Later I earned a diploma in Medical Billing and Coding. Afterward, I got a job at Cedars Sinai Physician billing and Pharmaceutical Company and Hospitalist billing center, where I worked for five and eighteen years, respectively. For those years, I remained dedicated, goal-oriented and did not give up until I could achieve my goal to become a physician assistant.

Throughout my undergraduate career and the time since I graduated, I have continued to explore the medical practice to learn as much as possible I can to become a registered physician assistant. Through the countless hours working as a medical office assistant and medical biller since 2004, I have been in contact with many patients and health professionals. Through that period, I have obtained new skills and learned elements that support effective patient care, such as effective communication, compassion, teamwork, and detailed note-taking. There have been numerous instances where I was tasked with checking and monitoring patient’s blood pressure, temperature, measuring their heights and weight, and blood withdrawal. I have ensured patients receive the best care and averted any avoidable crises in the process.

Despite my determination to fulfill my ambition, I have faced various challenges, including financial constraints, and overcame those challenges. While working, I managed to enroll and get a bachelor’s degree in a non-science field despite the financial burden. I believe a task completed without challenges is not a task to task to begin with at all. Every challenge and opportunity I have faced since has increased my passion for helping patients and saving their lives. This passion enhanced my determination and the overwhelming desire to be a physician assistant. I would like to continue my education in the medical field if admitted to a physician assistant school.

I know that the physician assistant profession is constantly growing and demanding. Also, I believe the profession’s future is secure as long as physician assistants complete their duties while providing patients with the best care. More importantly, I believe physician assistants will assist health organizations in bridging the physician shortage gap, especially in underserved regions. Having been raised in an underserved country, this appeals to me, enhancing my determination to practice primary care.

While working as a medical office assistant at Cedars Sinai Transplant Center, I saw many patients suffering from many complications such as kidney failure. Even if some of those transplants are successful, patients were often ignorant of their treatment plans. I have vast experience creating and maintaining a productive relationship with patients, allowing them to follow physician instructions. With that knowledge, as a physician assistant, I can educate patients about their conditions and how to improve. Building a good rapport with patients and physicians is one of my strengths, and I hope to utilize the skill in my practice as a physician assistant.

My medical passion has been growing since I love to help people and make their lives better. I always feel good and blessed when I help patients and leave the office with their families happy. With my clinical skill set and knowledge, I know I can help my patients achieve an optimal state of health. Despite my clinical skill set and expertise, I have other qualities such as excellent interaction skills, the ability to work as a team, and my unwavering dedication to medical practice.

With all these skills and provided with the opportunity to broaden my knowledge base, I would be a good physician assistant candidate. With my passion for helping people and the knowledge I will gain once admitted into the school, I am confident I will acquire the necessary tools to become a valued member of the medical profession. More importantly, I will offer the job my unbending commitment and dedication to never give up.
