Coca-Cola exploits the organizing concept into its management by having the company to be divided into different departments. To ensure proper management, every executive is held responsible for his or her actions. The methodology used was by applying two managerial concepts; planning and organizing in order to determine how Coca-Cola is managed. In conclusion, it is evident that Coca-Cola is well-managed and the planning and organizing management concept has significantly contributed to its proper management and success. It is also evident that having many layers of management promotes accountability among employees thus boosting their performance

Managerial concepts play a big role in ensuring the success of an organization. For a company to be successful it needs good management (Schaltegger, Hansen, & Lüdeke-Freund, 2016). Therefore, in order to determine how the well or poor an organization is managed, it is critical to assess the managerial concepts that the company has applied. The purpose of this paper is to apply two managerial concepts which are planning and organizing in order to determine how well or poor the Coca-Cola Company is managed. Managerial concepts have been very important to many companies including Coca-Cola. Coca-Cola is a popular and very successful company that operates under the non-alcoholic beverage industry and leading in the industry. Proper management is linked to the success of the company (Coca-Cola, 2018). Coca-Cola has an appropriate strategic plan which has enabled the company to be successful by leading it through its processes. Planning is essential when making decisions and this is mandatory in Coca-Cola. Coca-Cola exploits the organizing concept into its management by having the company to be divided into different departments (Coca-Cola, 2018). Coca-Cola is a renowned company that operates under the non-alcoholic beverage industry. It operates on a global scale with a wider market base. Part of its success is attributed to its information system. Coca-Cola was initiated in May 1886 in Atlanta, Georgia (Coca-Cola, n.d.). The founder of Coca-Cola was a certain pharmacist called John Pemberton. He first made a mixture of liquid caramel and after he carried out sampling and a test of his product, he realized that he had made a unique and special beverage product. This product was later referred to as coca cola by the bookkeeper Frank Robinson (Coca-Cola, 2018). Frank also went ahead to inscribe a unique trademark for the product “Coca-Cola”, a trademark which still exists up to date (Coca-Cola, n.d.). Most of its products are Coca-Cola, Sprite, and Fanta among other drinks of different flavours that they have developed and improved over the years. This company is an international company operating having its markets in more than two hundred countries (Coca-Cola, n.d.).

2.2    Impact of Many Managerial Layers and Coca-Cola

Coca-Cola is a reputable company that has been performing well for a long time. Despite operating a very competitive industry, it still remains at the top in the non-alcoholic beverage industry. The company has a huge market share which has contributed to its success. To add to it, it has many employees that are highly dedicated to contributing to the success of the company. Due to the fact that this company has remained at the top of the industry for a long time maintaining its success worldwide, it draws my attention to take a look at its organizational management (Coca-Cola, 2018). The company has too many managerial layers. Therefore, the topic “impact of too many managerial layers and Coca-Cola” is appropriate since it focuses on identifying the impact that these several managerial layers have on its employees.

2.3    Managerial Concepts

Every organization that is set to attain its goal requires a set of management concepts. Planning and organizing are managerial concepts applied by Coca-Cola in order to attain success. Planning basically refers to the process whereby goals are set, tasks are developed, outline and finally determine how to achieve them (Schaltegger et al., 2016). Organizing entails focusing on the allocation and arrangement of human as well as non-resources so as to ensure the accomplishment of plans successfully (Chang, 2016). These two managerial concepts have been significantly adopted by Coca-Cola and are discussed below.

2.3.1    Planning

Planning is very vital for Coca-Cola since they believe that a company that does not apply the concept of planning in form of strategic planning is just like a ship that lacks a rudder, going round the circle. Essentially, strategic planning, formulation, as well as implementation, are the main management functions that Coca-Cola has implemented. According to Coca-Cola, they think that only proper strategies and implementations are the most reliable indication of good management. But the company has an appropriate strategic plan which has enabled the company to be successful by leading it through its processes (Coca-Cola, 2018). This is evident from the availability of the mission and vision of the company. Its vision is to be the greatest anchor bottler worldwide whereas the mission is to refresh the world by creating value as well as making a difference everywhere. In this company, the majority of the goals setting as well as planning activities are managed by the top-most management. Actually, the top management has for Coca-Cola has three set objects which enables it to manage the company very well. These objectives have been classified into three categories; operational, strategic and tactical goals (In Zeyar, In Ordonez & IGI Global, 2016).

Additionally, planning is essential when making decisions and this is mandatory in Coca-Cola. Actually, the company has six steps in their decision making processes. These steps include; the need for making a decision, generation of alternative, assessment of alternatives, choosing among alternatives, implement the chosen decision and eventually learn from the feedback obtained (Coca-Cola, 2018).. This step has contributed a lot in ensuring good management in the company. However, decisions are normally conducted by the top managers.

2.3.2    Organizing

Coca-Cola exploits the organizing concept into its management by having the company to be divided into different departments. This helps the managers to ease and manage the company better. The company also ensures that employees having the same and common skills, as well as work duties, are grouped together (Coca-Cola, 2018). This strategy has enabled the managers to manage the company well and ensure that it attains the economies of scale with the aid of a high level of problem-solving and the minimal need for guidance by the subordinates. Basically, the company is led by a General Manager. It has five departments which are, Human Resource, Sales and Marketing, Industrial Relations, Production and Finance and Accounting departments. Each department has its own duties and accountability (Coca-Cola, 2018). Every department also has a departmental manager, this facilitates ease and proper management of the company.

To ensure proper management, every executive is held responsible for his or her actions. The managers are more dedicated to having an organized workforce by offering precise advice as well as assistance from time to time in order to achieve the purpose of every executive. The company also has three levels of management (Coca-Cola, 2018). Having too many layers of managers promotes accountability among employees thus boosting their performance, resulting in excellent work and eventually customer satisfaction.

To sum it all, it is evident that Coca-Cola is well managed. The fact that the company applies various managerial concepts in its process enables its managers to manage the company well. The company has an appropriate strategic plan which has enabled the company to be successful by leading it through its processes which is evident from the availability of the mission and vision of the company. In Coca-Cola, it is evident that having many layers of management promotes accountability among employees thus boosting their performance, resulting in excellent work and eventually customer satisfaction. In my view, I think Coca-Cola is well managed and has very responsible managers. However, to improve the management, even more, I would recommend that the company should adopt other management tools which will aid their management concept and obtain more results.
